I’m in one of those seasons where I am so excited for what God has next, but also so stinkin’ grateful for the goodness of “right now.” I’m embracing the growth and grace that has been such a sweet theme this season and have been so reminded of the Lord’s loving kindness and faithfulness through it all.
But another something exciting I always look forward to is the beautiful changing of seasons in the fall - which is officially here! I’m all about this new literal season, and I’m loving this gorgeous fall weather!
And I’ve been absolutely loving decorating our little fixer-upper home with all the fall goodness and decor (including fresh sunflowers that sweet Wes surprised me with after work the other day). I’m all about finding joy in the little things, because after all, it’s the little moments we cherish that add up to a lifetime of joy and gratitude for the one beautiful life God has given each of us to live.
In Beth Moore’s new book titled Chasing Vines, she writes about how God relentlessly reminds His people throughout Scripture, “Take care not to judge from the look of things. I’m at work in ways you cannot see.”
For me, the changing of seasons and the colorful leaves of fall are such a precious reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Because as the seasons change, it is a reminder that God is still in control of it all and doing a “new thing” once again.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”
Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
I feel like, with everything going on in our country and world, though, there has never been more of a time (at least in my lifetime) when we need to be calling out to the Lord to do what only he can do. I read the most powerful quote in my New Morning Mercies Devotional the other morning that read,
“Discouragement focuses more on the broken glories of creation than on the restoring glories of God’s character, presence, and promises.”
You see, I think we are all learning what it truly means to walk by faith, rather than by sight. Choosing to trust Him and in his faithful character even when the way before us does not seem clear and there are so many unknowns all around. Now that is what true faith IS.
2 Corinthians 5:7 – “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
God says that His word is the lamp to our feet and the light to our path, so I think in this midst of everything going on right now, His word must remain our one true guide and be viewed as more powerful than ever before.
Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
He always come through. He always does and always will. And he is with us every step of the journey, never ever leaving our side. He truly is the lamp for our feet and the light on our path, and he is teaching us to trust Him each and every day for our daily manna so that He can come through and provide in ways that only HE can do.
And we have definitely seen that in our own little family recently, too. In more ways than we can count, and we are still asking and waiting on the Lord to continue to keep His promises and lead us in His will – because like I always say – God’s will is the very safest place to be. And wherever He calls us, that's where we want to be.
John 14:12 – “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am.”
Matthew 17:20 - "..if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move..."
John 14:15-17 – “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
2 Timothy 2:13 – “If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.”
You see, we serve a kind, merciful, and FAITHFUL God who is faithFULL, even when we are faithless. So no matter what you’re facing, praying for, or walking through in this season, sweet friends, I pray that you will remember these truths about God’s steadfast character. God LOVES you, is FIGHTING for you,CARES for you, and is LISTENING to your every single prayer. He has never left you and He never will! And he ALWAYS comes through and keeps his promises. Because that’s the true character of our perfect and faithful heavenly father who loves us and wants good good things for his precious children.
James 1:17 – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Rest in HIS character today and remember that he is faithFULL even when we are faithless. And He loves to come through for us right when we need Him most – because that’s the kind of loving and gracious father that he is. One we can count on, trust in, and put our hope in – today and all the way into eternity.
Put your faith in him today, sweet friends. You are so so very loved, known, cherished, and adored. Believe it.
